Slicks - Tubes or Tubeless

I am debating installing tubes in a new set of slicks. 29x 10,5 M/T. M/T "suggests" a tube for the tires which are not listed as tubeless. I have been running tubes in the old set of slicks. Have been told it is safer not to have the tubes.

Do you run tubes in the slicks? Do you run "racing" tubes? Do you run screws in the slicks with and without no tubes?

I run S/ST with a 64 Nova 3000 lbs with driver
I run Hoosier 28x10.5Wx15 with tubes and i screw the tire to the rim
The car handles better and is more consistent. I run the M/T tubes
I have the stock suspension on my car and it made a world of diff going to the tubes.

Just my opinion

You have to run screws when you have tubes is what I have been told by my Hoosier guy. He doesnt recommend running tubes with their tires, and I would say it is probably the same for M/T. He actually pushed me away from the idea of a tube when I had thought about it over the winter.

Anyone know about the M/T with a tube?

Its more of a personsal choice. I have run my car both ways. There seems to be no difference. If you run the tubes you will need the wheel screws. No screws w/o tubes. There is no reason to run the tubes unless you have a set of tires that leak air real bad. The only tires that I have had trouble with air lreakage was Phoenix. I have Mickey radials now w/o tubes with no problems.

The reason i went to tubes was the car was very inconsistent in the 60ft.
A good friend of mine was having the same problem with his 71 El Camino
after many changes he put in tubes and problems solved.
I started with Mickey and tubes and ran 12.5 lbs of air
i have a 64 Nova with leaf springs and slapper bars.
I run 4.56 rear gear with a glide and i leave at 4500 and go on the stop at .300 out
i went a 1.67 60ft in Norwalk this weekend. I have gone 1.38 60ft wide open at Rt 66.

I know run Hoosiers and still use the tubes and the car is very consistent.
I do run more air in the Hoosiers, now i run 13.5 air.
They helped me lots... maybe it is just me..... but if it works stay with it.

Years ago several of us tested that and all picked up MPH running them tubeless. I use 10.5" X 30" Hoosier radials now. They don't leak, I use no screws, and it goes 1.31 to 1.32 in 60' all the time.

We run tubes,natural rubber.We also use rim screws.Our tires' sidewalls do very well as does tire wear.Running Phoenix tires,Firestones before that.

I would never run a tube in a car that goes over 140, other than that, it's preference, but I like running tubeless.

If a tube tire ruptures it can go instantly flat, usually a tubeless goes down slow.
