I have a friend that has some dlc coated lifters. They have around 100 laps on them and the coating is gone off the bottom. The cam looks ok and the bottom looks ok jut no more coating. Cast iron cam around 220 seat pressure. Anyone else had this happen?

Common problem. Every actual DLC coating applicator I have ever spoken with has told me to never run their coating against a cast iron camshaft. And yes, I've seen exactly what you described .

There is a SAE study out there about how any lube with Molly attacks DLC coating it will make DLC FLAKE.

Were it mine, or a customer's, it would get a new cam and lifters. And the engine would come apart for a thorough inspection and cleaning, that DLC coating went somewhere.
If you want to run DLC coated tool steel lifters, run them against a steel core camshaft. If you want to run a cast iron core camshaft, run uncoated tool steel lifters.

Alan is right no dlc on cast use a coating
Like Dynacron, a lubricant type coating or use a steel core with dlc!

A steel core needs a very very good polish job on it. There is a outstanding company in Ann Arbor that can do the polish job. Nagel is the name they also very high end honing equipment.
