I remember one year at the national event in Virginia when we had a transmission teardown looking for clutchless units. Ken was one of the racers who got invited to the "party". It was the first time I had been around Ken other than a short time spent teching his car. Ken was very polite and spent time with us techmen explaining what he had done to modify his transmission in order to make it work better. His modifications were well within the rules and he passed with no problem.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a real gentleman to us techmen and will be missed. He was a true legend in the S/S racing world. RIP Ken. |

Prayers and Condolences to the family and friends of Ken. So sorry to hear! Indeed Ken was a hero and icon of drag racing. Truely one of the BEST. Seeing him and his family at the track was always one of the highlights. Getting to talk with him, even better. I remember one day I had the HONOR to help him take the hood off of that beautiful race car. How special it was for me to be able to touch a part of history.
God speed my friend. Zane Racing.

RIP Ken. Mr. 555. Avery special guy that stilled raced the same car that he bought new in 1965. I had the pleasure of meeting Ken and had several MoPar racers bench race sessions. A very fine racer and a true gentleman. My condolences to the family and close friends.

RIP to one of my favorite SS Hemi racers! We will miss the Triple Nickel.
I've had this video as one of my favorites for a few years. One of my best memories at a race was seeing Ken Montgomery win the Keystones. Here's a video of him in action snatching gears - [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcsZ--AkUdw&list=FL5mYNsuYd58rxr2tpwLfPTA"]Ken Montgomery's Triple Nickel In-Car Camera - YouTube[/ame] God bless Ken Montgomery! |
