Who builds the fastest and lightest powerglide for superstock, using a 327/ 275 combo in a Chevy II?

What is the weight break for a three speed, performance wise?
Meaning,in a car weighing less than 3000lbs would it be beneficial. I thought the three speed would help a heavier car more than lighter one, or am I totally confused. |

Billy,
I agree with Dave , unless you have a traction problem ?? Yes, they are legal in S/S ... Stock in 2013.. Many more options with the 3 spd & it's fast ...

[QUOTE=Dave Ribeiro;342023]Billy,
Stock in 2013.. I'm presuming 2-speed autos can switch to 3-speed auto beginning next year? Is that from a good source or just rumor?

For a small block car especially, in class racing a 3 speed is usually quicker than a two speed. Class racing engines usually have a fairly narrow power band, it's hard to take advantage of the things that make a PowerGlide quick and efficient with a narrow power band.
Once you get to a TH350 with aluminum drums, and lightweight geartrain and shafts, the next step up gets real expensive, the next 0.04 in ET could cost you upwards of $3K above what the TH350 costs.
