Thumbs up Chris D. the Hero!

Not sure how many of you saw this reported on another board, but I thought I would post it here as Chris deserves MAJOR kudos for helping catch this thief that was going pit area to pit area at the Gators:

Nice job Chris. This puts a MAJOR deposit in your karma bank...

The best part about the whole deal was the way the guy changed his story when he found out Chris was in the motorhome. Yeah someone lost their phone out in the field out here. I mean he really must have thought Chris was an idiot. Who just opens the door to someone's motorhome to check to see if they lost a phone. Way to go Chris and Matt just wish you would have gotten the beatdown on video! Seems like it's not safe to go anywhere anymore.

I saw the guy on the ground with a large group around not looking too sympathetic. Official told me somebody caught a thief and beat the crap out of the guy. He told me this with a huge smile on his face, same reaction I had...kudos to all who participated in "detaining" the guy till county police arrived.

The dude was supposedly a racer? Can somebody confirm that? That would be HUGELY disappointing if that was the case...

I don't know if the guy is a racer or not, but here's his name / mugshot / charges against him: http://www.mugshotsgainesville.com/?p=184620

From this article, it doesn't SOUND like he was a racer, but I can't confirm that: http://lawandorder.blogs.gainesville...50849191923242

From what I read on another forum he was a former racer, and appears to be traveling to races specifically for this. Way to go Chris! Smart too that nobody caught it on video when the poor thief injured himself trying to escape.

I wonder if that is a NHRA SFI approved neck collar he is wearing?
It was a NHRA event
