Dave, i was looking at a similar combination but useing a 98 f/bird but found no accepted connecting rods (yet) along with virtually no one with experience with these heads. I may still try this combo but as of this time it's on the back burner. Pm me if you make any headway in these area's...........norm

Just submit to NHRA a suitable replacement rod and anybody can do a cylinder head; it's just an air passageway.

The 98 Firebird is better, and you can put an LT-1 in it if you want to go faster later.
![]() There are a couple of Firebirds running the 3.8, and the guy I talked to was bragging about the heads. Jeff is correct, find someone who makes them, and have them submit one to get it approved. Same with the pistons. You need to find a 200 Metric transmission that bolts to that block, anything else is too much and too heavy.

I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't stay away--that means what I've always suspected is true--class racing is like Malaria or Herpes, never goes away. At least you're working on a combination that won't get stomped by the DPs and CJs. Welcome back and good luck!

Thanks guys,I like the odd ball stuff. The 3.8 being such a stout V6 from the factory. GM did their work on the motors. FI is going to be the new learning cuve for me.Carb guy all my life.Yea ,JE is only the replacement piston 700.0) a set. I have though about the T200,but the 460lE has such a low 1st gear 3:08 I believe.I am hopeing to keep the rotating mass down and I want to stay with the 10 bolt and a 4:56 is the biggest I can get into that housing.(Before I go to a 12 Bolt) I have access to all the equipment to to do my motor ,and have a guy who can trick the 460LE.And I have access to a shop that can fab me just about anything. Thanks again, and I'l keep progress posted.

Like Alan said, you want a 200, not a 4L60E. Not a matter of it living.
