Yeah Bub, but you're correct, the price quoted him, provided they are fair on parts and cores, is still a deal. And yes, it takes a long time working for peanuts to make a living.

the differance between outrageously priced heads and fair priced heads is this. 1 guy spends big bucks on heads 2 first thing he does is update shortblock and valvetrain 3 dyno motor with new heads to make convertor and gear ratio selection more accurate 4 buys 2 new sets of headers and collectors to dyno 5 new carb or two. then spends as much time and money as it takes to make KILLER heads work. The guy who spends fair money feels like he didnt spend enough and after talking to his buddies who convince him the stuff he just bought is crap [they did that to him cause if they suckerde him to buy expensive heads from thier guy they would work out a deal to get something on the cheap from the head guru] puts his new heads on his old shortblock with the old tired trans and convertor and doesnt pickup much, now you see his pals were right the heads suck

Dave Layer (Heads up) in Dayton is the guy that I would use. He did my heads several years ago and they have worked great. I whacked a few intake valves one day before I had Schubecks in it and he fixed them quickly and reasonably. He is a great guy.

Ok say you've got a set of 416 heads done with the previously required three angle valve job, what can you actually expect to pickup HP and/or flow wise with the new "any valve job" rule now in effect with NHRA? This is a .357"/.370" lift camshaft. These heads are fresh and I really don't want to go back and redo them if it doesn't warrant the power gain. Thanks.

I wanted to thank all of my customers/supporters for including me in this thread.
![]() For everyone who does not know of me: I keep my prices low and my quality high because I know that not every racer has and endless budget, but every racer deserves the best parts. ![]() Thanks, Chris Hardy |
