Which ones are best?
What overbore size is safe, absent a sonic tester? What thickness would you like to see, with a tester? (for a Stocker) Early? Middle years? Roller blocks? Asking for a friend , who knows as little as I do on the subject. ;-)

Roller blocks are junk. We used older 302 blocks and set them up for the roller lifters and Hard Bloked them. My last Super Stock motor we used a new Boss block. Biggest we've gone is .060. I've never seen any testing #'s. Would sure have liked to though. 28 oz stuff is faster than the 50 oz newer stuff.

Dart SHP or Boss block. Boss block cylinders are shorter than Dart.

The blocks made in Mexico are slightly better the the roller blocks and about the same as the pre-roller blocks.

I just spent a half hour reading about Mexican blocks. Some claim they are 10 pounds heavier, because of the beefier mains. Everyone seems to want them for strokers. Nobody, and I mean nobody even mentions the wall thickness. Not really surprised. Anyone ever sonic a Hecho in Mexico block?

We used the Mexican Blocks with Block fill .060 over is about max
Early blocks prepped this way are good to +/- 500 HP The beefy aftermarket stuff is way to heavy and is overkill for the HP A4 about the Best but hard to come by The Later Ford BOSS blocks are good for the weight but $$ I have a standard bore BOSS service block I may be willing to let go ![]() Good Luck!
