What do you guys think?
Going to try some S/ST racing...Have a '68 Nova that weighs 3290, Powerglide, 4.10 gears, 9 inch slicks, 454, has been 10.06 at 135.60, usually 10.15-10.25. Going to be running a plate stop, thinking that will put it at around 10.25-10.35. For first time out: .3, cruise at 4600, 1.8, and shift at 6600 after coming off the stop. Looking for feedback, or suggestions if you see any.

Re: What do you guys think?
Your Nova is fairly similar to mine. Mine is 300# heavier and has a 4.30 gear, and you are probably a tenth quicker.
I go on the stop at 0.500, "cruise" at 4200 although it isn't really on the stop long enough to sit there, and I'm off the stop between 1.2 and 1.8 depending on weather and track. In the summer at midwestern 1000' elevation, it is usually 1.35 to 1.6. I think your suggested numbers will put you a little bit slow, but fairly close. Your ratio should be very close to 3:1 at that RPM.

Awesome, thanks for the reply, looks like I'll be close then..was thinking 3:1 to keep some numbers to play with, 2:1 may be under 1 second in bad weather. Do you have it at .500 to get your car out of the beams and cut a light, or to help get some momentum and keep some numbers on the stop? |

The least amount of stop time I've ever used is 1.19, into a headwind at Topeka in 3500 foot air. I should probably be using a higher stop RPM, but I have a setup that works so I'm hesitant to change it.

Re: What do you guys think?
I think the car will be slow as well at first. Definitely not going to have much of a top end charge with the 4.10's.
Have you considered not using the stop, and dropping your shift point to slow the car down? |

Learn to make the lack of top-end charge an advantage! You control the race from out front.
