I wanna see how your "launch" technique differs from mine.
When you get on the 2 step are you "full throttle" or part throttle , then nail it when you dump the clutch? Either way you can still get on the 2 step , however one way the engine's drunk with fuel ( as in 2--4's ) and the other isn't...........but the minute you come of the 2 step ( FULL THROTTLE OPTION ) you're already WFO. The cars gotta launch harder? |

after stage bulbs are lit, full throttle on two step., this lets engine clean out extra fuel and launches cleaner.

On my cars, I normally launch at WOT on the 2 step, after my 2nd stage light is on, I`ll bring the RPM up to about 2500-3000 RPM, and then foot to the floor when my 1rst amber lights up. Depending on conditions my 2 step is usually at 6600 on the low side, and it always hits the limiter before the last amber.
To me, waiting for the clutch drop, and then going WOT just introduces the chance for too much variability, not really sure why you say it`s "gotta launch harder".

ok, I use to wait till top bulb came on then matted throttle, the car seemed to bog some through first gear. I was told to matt it before tree came down, this would clean out the extra fuel in manifold make for a cleaner launch, I tried it, picked up .02 in sixty foot, worth .04 at end of track. no more bogging ! just something to consider.

ok ,
Thanks guys. I just felt 2 750's WFO on the 2 step will be dumping a lot of fuel in the manifold......... As I said.......... I am part throttle on the 2 step then mat the throttle WHEN I LET THE CLUTCH OUT. I don't think this is the best way. What I was saying is , I believe the car will leave HARDER WFO on the 2 step............as opposed to what I was doing. |
