Motorhome recommendations
looking for input/suggestions need to know what to look for in a motorhome to pull a 28ft enclosed race trailer and 3200lb door car/ tools atv what have you. Mostly looking at diesels, i would consider a gas but for the time being, whats your opinion on cat vs cummins how much hp should we look for i'm noticing alot of tow ratings around 5000lbs which i definitly don't believe is enough. any help would be appreciated.

Re: Motorhome recommendations
I can't speak to the diesels but we had a Class C with a V10 that we towed an open trailer and car with for some time. Having the RV at the track was definitely nice but the gas V10 was horrible. I would never do that again and there is no way I would consider it with an enclosed trailer. Even with a light open trailer and car the MPG was horrendous and it had virtually zero power. What a nightmare.
Yes, many are rated for 5K so you'll need to look for one rated at 10K. I know a lot of folks have the 5K and modify/reinforce the frames but I have still heard horror stories about RV doors not opening, panels not lining up, etc. from excessive frame shifting over the years. Just look for a diesel pusher in your price range and be done with it. Don't mess around with gas or a Class C. I don't think either will fit your needs. Scott |
