Where do i belong?
I have a 2015 hellcat. I logged 87 1/4 mile runs last year. I want more than TnT & gamblers races & i just LOVE floggin this thing.
without getting a cage or roll bar, where do i fit in the NHRA & IHRA ranks? What classes am i legal in? My best was 10.88 @ 125 mph, am i stuck with weekend warrior stuff if i dont cage this dang thing? I would be totally stock other than DOT drag radials. Sorry guys/gals, the rule books are so confusing to me....I want competition with a challenge to improve myself without butchering my car. Please help......lol....... Thanks! |

Re: Where do i belong?
Wow ! My local NHRA track won't let you go faster than 11.49 without a rollbar .

Re: Where do i belong?
Ditto. Roll bars mandatory in all Stock cars running 11.49 and quicker. In Pro bracket, a cage is required at 11.00 and quicker or 135 mph or faster.
EDIT: Rolling your car at 125 will "butcher" it (and you) more than a little welding. Dale

Re: Where do i belong?
Under IHRA's "Street Car" rules, he may go 10.00 in the1/4th and 6.50 in the 1/8th without most of the safety equipment in a 2008 or newer hardtop, OEM unaltered equipped car, with the standard OEM equipment like the air bags etc.. The driver must wear the correct safety equipment for the ET of the car. The driver/car may not be in "normal" competition, ie. bracket or class racing, only testing, etc.
Of course, we all know that some tracks "stretch" the rules, if they even tech. So any thing is possible. Legal rollbars can be fabricated and installed without butchering most cars. The may even be a legal "bolt-in" roll bar for Challengers. Like other's have said, if you are dead, you will probably will not worry to much about how the car was "butchered" |

Re: Where do i belong?
By the rule book too I believe, the cars are not even supposed to have drag radials or cold air intakes, etc. They are supposed to be bone stock on street tires.

Re: Where do i belong?
I was off by a tick.
2016 Super Pro/Pro/Sportsman section: Roll bar mandatory: 11.00 - 11.49 all cars. Roll cage mandatory: 10.99 or quicker / 135+. Full-bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor, and body (from firewall rearward, wheel tubs permitted), running between 10.00 (*6.40) and 10.99 (*6.99), roll bar permitted in place of roll cage.
