Default NHRA's new " Complimentary Contingency Program "...

Sounds good, but I wonder how much of this is actually "no-fee", or is there a catch ?

If it is actually a no fee deal, this would be great for start-up companies or those companies with products that could not afford to get into NHRA before.

Copy-n-paste from the NHRA site:

"The Complimentary Contingency Program is a no-fee contingency program designed for contingency partners who want to reward and support pro and sportsman racers at NHRA national events, but are not interested in taking advantage of the benefits available with the Major and Associate level NHRA Contingency sponsorship."

Very nice. This is something I suggested to IHRA many years ago.

Thumbs up Re: NHRA's new " Complimentary Contingency Program "...

We all bitch left, right, and center about all things NHRA, many times with justification, but lets give props where props are due. Jill McKenna is trying to do everything she can to get the contingency program back on its feet, and it obviously ain't for the benefit of the Pros, its all for us.

Now a company can post and NHRA will do the product/decal verification for no cost. Granted, they don't get midway space, signage, tickets, etc., but a company that wants to have their sticker on your car and reward their loyal customer can now do so without breaking the bank.

Good job, and thanks...

Anyone have a list of the first few companies that have signed up for this?

Might be a bit early Lyn.

Maybe by the Winternationals we will see how many product companies sign on.

I would imagine once the word spreads we might see companies that traditionally advertise with the NMRA, NMCA, and other heads up racing organizations get on board, assuming their products fit into one of the sportsman or pro classes.

Exclamation Re: NHRA's new " Complimentary Contingency Program "...

I am encouraged. It looks like someone more understanding of the proper role with this process has entered NHRA. the value proposition NHRA should be providing is to be a facilitator that brings both racers and vendors/manufacturers together in a way that benefits all three groups.
Vendors reach racers who buy their products that reward them if they do well at NHRA events. NHRA should be absorbing this cost and consider it an investment that pays off in terms of membership, division growth participation and National event growth, etc. They really should never ever charge for administering contingency.the more they grow contingency, the more all three groups benefit!

This also strengthens their position for title rights and advertising if they do it right. Not because they bully the ones that are stuck, but rather they encourage participation through mutual benefit.
