Any one using there light weight in a EFI car with alternator? Do the hold up? Was thinking of losing 20#s by switching from a full size to a smaller braille. Thanks

There was a thread last year about lightweight batteries. I used an 11#
Braille in my Jeep 4.0 and it was not enough! After using a 15# Deka PowerSport I ended up with a 21# Deka Powersport (Walmart sells them under their name). East Penn battery is the maker of many different name batteries. I suggest the 21 lb unit on anything that has FI, elect fan and waterpump, MSD ign. I also charge between rounds. |

Not efi Russell, but I use one (B3121) in the Camaro. I've only had it in the car for a year, but it seems to be fine. Be advised the Braille charger will not operate with many generators.

We run two 11.5# in the Cuda and they last about three years. They work very well.

We tried a ProLite Lithium battery a year ago in the COPO Super Stocker. 120 amp alternator regulated to 18 V max as we where told by ProLite. Charged it to green one night before loading, pulled out the next day and it was stone dead. Needed a $350 rebuild, used it for 3 outings and had it in the car for maybe 2 months. Pretty pissed off since we asked a lot of questions about it before buying. Took it out and sold it. Maybe it was a bad one, maybe not, but either way it ended up costing me a lot of time and money.

I'm on my third yr. with one in a EFI mustang, stock alternator. Works like a champ. I put it on a trickle charger at home every once in a while. For running the electric radiator fan between rounds I use a separate deep cycle battery so I don't need to charge the braille battery between rounds. It's in a pure stock car so it has oem water pump.

![]() ![]() Check out our Powerlite batteries. We offer different capacities to fit your application with weights from 5 to 10 lbs. Also offer protection circuits to prevent over discharging that can prevent damage. These lithium batteries can live 5 times longer then other battery technologies, are extremely light weight and can charge many times faster. |

Regarding my previous post about the Braille charger not working with some generators...this proved to be false. I found my Yamaha 2000 generator has a switch/governor which when selected only ramps up according to load. This setting was not enough to excite the Braille charger. By turning off this feature of the generator the charger now activates...the Braille 10 amp charger tops off my batteries quicker than any other I have tried. My apologies for the previous misinformation.
