Default 84 Olds Cutlass Motor

I am new to stock eliminator racing and i am looking at getting a motor for my 1984 cutlass. After looking at the blueprints on NHRA the only difference between the Olds 305 and the Chevy 305 are the pistons...So my question is i found a 305 sbc for sale that runs good but it has flat top pistons and according to the olds 305 it had dish pistons is it legal to run the flat top pistons or do i need to find another motor??

The Olds actually should be a 307. Completely different animal, but good.

Thats my next questions...is it possible to change flat top pistons to dish pistons or is that major surgery? the motor im looking at is a 305/150hp motor and has the all the same numbers and everything for the 84 olds except the pistons are flat as i said and the 84 has dish top so i thought maybe i could just change those but i am just a hired gun so i dont know any technical info about it.

Assuming you are for real, let me tell you it's about $20,000 to $40,000 more complicated that just switching a set of cast pistons in a motor! But seeing as you are a professional hit man, money shouldn't be a big problem. No? Jim
