Just curious, how many guys here run IHRA Pure Stock? What do you like/dislike about the class? What are you running?
I'm working on a Stocker (sssllloooooowwwwww) stocker, but reading through the rulebook this class caught my attention. Maybe someday? |

Ran one for a few years. You do not get to run a electric water pump,so cooling down between rounds takes longer.Stock duration cam,and stock spring pressure must be used.

I like my pure stocker, cooling is'nt big deal I have 2 13'' electric fans on 26'' radiator hardly ever gets above 165.
Also have to have mufflers w/headers,can use elec. fuel pump but have to keep mechanical pump mufflers can't be straight through type have to be baffled. Mike Taylor 3601 |

I just bought an E/PS 83 Camaro. I've only had it out once. It's a fairly inexpensive way to go stock racing. Can't wait for 2013.

I agree. I paid $ 3,500 for my car from a car lot and have about $ 4,500 total invested in it. I feel confident a $ 350.00 torque convertor would easily get me .3 under the index. I also am looking forward to next year.

I ran my 455/325hp 1971 Lemans Wagon in J/PSA . Lots of fun, got down to 3 cars at the Northern Nationals when they were at Milan, which is my home track .

I'm running a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 automatic in I/PS.
Bought the car off a car lot and changed the rear gears to 4.56, installed an off-road x-pipe, and put a shift kit in the AODE. Car still has the stock torque convertor (of unknown mileage) and power brakes, stereo, etc. I came real close to the 9.45 index at the London IHRA Pro AM event last month with a 9.47. Two weeks later without any changes it ran a 9.328 at Beech bend. It is basically a street car running in Stock with DOT tires and pump gas. With mufflers and DOT tires, I can run that car in trophy classes at various tracks as well. Makes it fun to play with. PS rules say you can run any size DOT tire (as long as it fits the stock wheel well) No turbocharged or blower cars allowed in PS. Driveshaft loop required in all classes.
