Did GM make a Chev 350 block (4.00 bore) that had the roller lifters and a mechanical fuel pump boss? If they did, what was the block casting number and what did it come in? Thanks, Dyno

Check on 93 -95 truck blocks. Tearing one down now no roller but it does have the mount pads to secure the plate to hold down the lifter stands and has fuel pump boss and its drilled for the fuel pump pushrod.

I think those are 238 and 880 blocks. You want to find one that has a fuel pump block off plate on it. It is probably true that they are as likely to be TBI truck engines as anything. You may have to trill and tap for the bolts to secure the bracket.

Just tore one down myself recently. It's still setting on the engine stand. Last 3 digits of the block are 638. It had a hydraulic roller cam and the block off plate for the mechanical fuel pump opening. It was a greaseball, but, the bores all checked consistant and the crankshaft was good and smooth. Those were the only two pieces I was concerned about.

Yes, it is 638 and not 238, my mistake, that's what I get for trusting my memory.

Not all of the blocks have FP blockoff plates. Some blocks are not drilled all the way into the cam area. I have drilled them to make the FP pushrod fit through to the cam. I have also taken blocks that have the standoffs in the lifter valley and milled them to the correct height and tapped them for the lifter hold down tray. All you have to do is find the correct block.
