Default Legal Ford 5.0 head with screw in studs

I understand that guide plates are legal when going from the OE design to a stud and poly lock.
Is the guide plate conversion talked about in the rule book, can't seem to find anything about it.
Which fulcrums can I use with the OE rocker?
Doing up a good set of heads and would like to do the conversion at the same time
Thanks much
Charlie

Charlie, I just went thru this with my 85 Mustang. Although it may be possible to drill the factory rocker fulcrums out to 3/8 or 7/16`s, what I did was have 7/16`s studs installed, and I used a set of the factory Boss 302 , Boss 351, 429SCJ rocker fulcrums. These fulcrums are drilled for 7/16" studs, and don`t have square "lug" on the bottom, that the factory 5.0 non adjustable rockers use to keep the rocker centered over the valve. As far as I know, these fulcrums are obsolete from Ford, I happened to find a NOS set of 16 in a local car parts magazine. The Ford part number on the box of fulcrums is D0OZ-6A528-C if that helps. Maybe some Ford racer or shop might have some laying around. I`ll be racing in Sonoma, so I could show you what they look like. Good luck.

You can use older 302 rockers and ball studs with guide plates ask NHRA this question earlier this year I am also working on a set for better adjustablity. I have the email from NHRA that says it is legal.

Westcoast
Just got off the phone with Pat in the tech office, his quote was "machining the rocker bosses on the head is NOT legal". Milling the pedastils to accept a screw in stud and guide plate would be the only way to locate the pushrod using the OEM style non railed rocker arm. Not really the answer I needed to hear but that is what NHRA tech told me. How can I see a copy of that email that you have?
Thanks again
