467 Big Block Chevy Bracket Build
In the process of building and testing a 467 4.310 x 4.00 big block Chevy. The engine consists of the following, 10.1 final compression Mahle pistons, (pump gas), GM 3/8 truck rods fully reworked, GM 7416 steel crank profiled, modified oil system using a GM type oil pan 5 quarts capacity. The camshaft will be 228/238/553/578/112 hyd roller, Rollmaster timing chain, 3/8 .083 wall chromoly pushrods, Comp 3/8 guide plates, ARP studs, with Scorpion rocker arms. The heads will be 781 oval port GM castings ported with 2.190/1.880 valves, Isky springs will 400 open, 180 seat, Comp retainers. The intake is a modified Performer RPM intake with a 1 inch open spacer, carb will be a Holley 770, I also might test with a AED 1000. My goal would be a low 10 sec quarter in a 3600-3700 pound car. I will post dyno data shortly.

HP- heavily ported or just lightly ,rec port or oval intake? Looks like same specs on cam as your hyd just roller and 112 lsa.Why 112 not tighter? What icll? Where do you expect hp peak?Always enjoy your pump gas builds.

Re: 467 Big Block Chevy Bracket Build
Thanks, the heads are fully ported, the intake is oval. The reason for the 112 LS is vacuum, the engine will go in a street driver after my testing is done, Idle is a nice 750 RPM although it does have a hard exhaust note due to the true 10.1 compression. Cam was installed at 108.5. Its possible the 112 LS could help the power carry, as I would turn this engine past 7000 RPM in high gear. If I have the exhaust port right it should peak @ 6200 RPM. It will be interesting to compare the power curve of this engine against other engines I've run in my car with known performance. Picture of a typical casting before porting.

Re: 467 Big Block Chevy Bracket Build
HP- from your post, why the exh port to carry the rpm when you have 10 degrees more exh(228 int-238 exh)on the cam? Also approx. how many cc is the int port? The reason I ask is that with a 258 int solid roller I have a 496 that peaks at 6300 (with Brodix race rite ovals).
Thanks. |
