Default First Round Bye

DIV 5:
Pretty fortunate to be a series sponsor and be pulled for the bye in 1st round (SC).

INDY:
Pretty fortunate to be pulled for the 1st round bye at your sponsor's race (SC).

Just something that makes you say Hmmmmm.

The bye car was picked without any knowledge of who it was. Staging radioed race control to pick the bye. All of the cars were still behind the Goodyear bridge and not visible from race control. The Div Director picked the bye blindly by choosing a random staging position. It was something like " third pair, left lane". Rob had no idea who that driver was when he made the pick, and he never does when making those picks. Long getting the 1st round bye was indeed fortunate for him, but it was NOT a premeditated decision.

I know it might be out of the question to qualify like Stock Eliminator, but why can't the first round bye go to the driver with the best package during time trials?
What is wrong with that?
This is coming from a Stock Eliminator racer,so bear with me.

IHRA does that at Nitro Jam races.
1st rd bye goes to #1 qualifier (best package)
2nd rd goes on a ladder

Now that I think about it , I've been racing since the 80's, and I have never been pulled for a bye run............ Not Bracket Racing nor Super Racing..........

Dan,

I only have a comment to the Indy race, the 3 of us were lined up, and we just got done saying "god please do not tell us one of us has the bye, " 15 mins went, by, and then they walked up, they didnt give it to the flagship for the Sponsor. They didnt know who it was.

There is no conspiracy theory to this. It happend.

See ya.

That is the way it is done in D4.
Here's the point. I'm not saying that anything is fishy and I didn't start this thought process. It was brought to my attention, but they didn't want to mention anything so as not to upset anyone. BTW just because you are pulled aside for the bye doesn't mean you are going to get it. It just seem like a big coincidence. Like I said just makes you say Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Being pulled for the Bye 1st round is a pain and most of the racers I know come to race and don't want the 1st round BYE ,,,, Most of the time being pulled means you get to wait untill last just to see who you run and doesn't really mean you will get the Bye ,,,,,, in ten years racing Super Gas / Super Rod I've been pulled twice ,,, once at a National event in Atlanta , but a racer showed at the last minute and whiped my A _ _ ,,, the second time was at Norwalk and not only did I get to race Rusty Cook , I also spun around (Last pair down the track ) and hit the wall wrecking my car ,,,, so if you ask me I never go up early for fear of being pulled for the 1st round bye ,,,,,,, now 2nd , 3rd or 4th round bye is a different story and I'll take all the help I can get .
