Moving a "Bracket Car" to SS
Hi. I'm on the mailing list so it's time I get serious about this. I built my car to be SS/CS legal but have only bracket raced it. I ran the bracket side of a few of the Lucas Oil races but never stuck "SS/CS" on the window. Do I need an NHRA certification inspection to do this or just show up for one of the combo races? I broke into the sport as the staff photographer at Milan in Michigan in the '60s. They checked everything back then.
The car: 68 Mustang Coup Full cage and all safety gear. 302 Dart block N351 heads (in line valve iron heads-Ford part # for circle track) 750 Holley Weight was 3200 as a street car with aluminum heads. Rules for SS/CS 10.5 Lb/CID 3000 min. 366 cid stock displacement max. Iron heads Inline valves only 750 4bbl carb 1/4 mile index is 10.30

Dale,
We certainly don't want you to do anything unsafe, so if you know you need a chassis cert, you should get one. And we welcome all racers to join us for some fun racing this year.

Thanks for the reply. The car has been inspected and raced at Pacific and Bremerton with different engine combos since 2014. Topped out at 116 in the 1/4 at a Lucas Oil race with a Factory Stock Mustang passing me at 155. To unravel my original post a bit, do I need a chassis sticker to class race?

Dale, What does the rule book say? I attest that my car meets all the safety requirements of the class in which I am racing.

Re: Moving a "Bracket Car" to SS
I read through General 4:11 Roll Cage and all class cars running at sanctioned tracts need a chassis sticker except bracket cars slower than 9.99. So I need to get it inspected and stickered before I can run as Super Stock. I can get that done in a few weeks.

Dale,
"750 4bbl carb" You probably know this but it is not just any 750 CFM four barrel. It has to be off NHRA's list. Good Luck! Bill |

Dale, Call Matt at the NHRA Divison 6 Office. I believe there maybe a chassis certificate at Pacific Raceways this coming weekend. If not, Matt can arrange to do it.

Re: Moving a "Bracket Car" to SS
Did Cliff own the track while you worked there? I grew up over in Dexter and spent many weekends between Milan, Manchester speedway, or Butler speedway.
