Default Cornhusker Raceway Park

Some pics from back in the day at Cornhusker Raceway Park in Omaha Nebraska. Many big names raced at this short lived track. Anybody have any more pics or stories?

Do you have any shots of a white 63 Plymouth aluminum car that had light blue stripes. It was Weldon and Steve Christian’s car, sponsored by Cox Motor Company.

I think it won a divisional race in Omaha about 1966 or 67.

Thanks,
Bill

No pictures of the 1963 Plymouth. Cornhusker opened in fall 1969. Some Cornhusker Drag Record Holders. Still trying to figure out the green Cuda.

Thanks, I guess there was track before this one that had NHRA Division 5 races.

How cool is that to find your name on the record holder's list? Feels great. Actually made me smile.
V/PS, set that record on June 12, 1970. I remember it well, because while I was there, where no one could find me, my wife went into labor and delivered our second son. OOPS. Well, my Dad liked the trophy, but didn't appreciate me using his 6 month old car to drag race. Had to stand on the brakes 5 or 10' before the traps, just to get within the ?.2 sec? bracket. Would have won a bunch of money, had I raced Stock Eliminator that day. I broke the existing Nat'l Record by a full 2 seconds. The day kept getting hotter and the car kept running better. It was a blazing fast 69 Rambler American, with a 199 cu in 6 cyl, with an automatic trans. Fun day. Thanks for the memories. Would've been nice if my name wouldn't have been misspelled, though. Oh well, I know it's me and so do lots of my friends.

How do I post a video from youtube on here, or can someone add the video to this forum for all of us to enjoy.. In youtube search type in Thunder Valley and Sioux City Dragway Early Days, alot of the cars in the Sioux City Dragway part of the video are shown on this forum to include the John Hagen Baracuda pictured above. Very cool to see thses cars racing on the track
