Looking for feedback on Ford 6.4 Diesel
Honest feedback needed......
I'm looking at an 08 F350 w/ the 6.4 Diesel in a local Ford Dealer. The vehicle is "like-new" condition... 28K miles & it runs/drives great. Warranty history shows a radiator replaced (recall) and tires replaced (recall). The problem is the owner reviews on the internet for this combo are horrific.... Mostly reports of blown head gaskets (that dealers don't cover), abysmal fuel mileage, and leaky radiators...... astronomical repair bills.... Taken with a grain of salt it is possible that satisfied owners are not motivated to write reviews.... I'm just hoping some actual owners of this combo can let me know what their experience has been driving, towing, etc.... so that I will be able to make up my mind if I want to go forward. If you don't want to post publically please send me a PM. Thanks

Re: Looking for feedback on Ford 6.4 Diesel
PIECE OF SH$#=== do not waste your time with either the 6.0 or 6.4 ---junk junk junk---7.3 or the latest ford diesel like 2009 or newer only way to go wit a Ford--the reason Ford discontinued them is the horrendous warranty problems with them--- like they bought Back about several thousand of them and the engine is like a $14,000 replacement job---yep FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS--DO NOT THINK ABOUT BUYING ONE EVEN IF THEY WILL SELL IT TO YOU FOR A DOLLAR

Re: Looking for feedback on Ford 6.4 Diesel
Thanks to everyone who responded - I recieved several PM's too all confirming the dubious reliability issues I was worried about. It really is a shame - I will stick with my '01 - 7.3 Powerstroke for a few more years. (Only has 48K miles on it).

I only use it for racing.... LOL. I don't really need a dially anymore. If I could find the same truck with a short bed and 4wd I'd be set. Hard to find in the condion that mine is in and with low miles.

Re: Looking for feedback on Ford 6.4 Diesel
Hang on to that 7.3 they are great. The other really good truck is the Chevy or GMC duramax. They are really strong and reliable. I had both and they were equally powerful and reliable. One of the power chips really wakes up the 7.3.
