Gear,converter and launch
Hey guys going back and forth on a T-brake or not, 2900 lb Ranger bracket truck, 308 cu in 5800 8inch converter, 5.71 gear 28x10 radial. With 14.xx SLR best 60 foot braking has been 1.47 and avrge 1.50. Been 7.03 best et in 8th at 94.5 mph. I have switched to E85 and truck seems more consistent. I can only foot brake to about 3000 and the truck creeps and pushes .Im worried about spinning the teeth off the pinion with a trans brake or breaking the C4 into a million pieces at the hit. I have had the converter loosened 3 times (PTC), about 1000 rpm drop between shifts if i go past 7000 rpm, if i short shift it (6400) drop is about 800 rpm, doesn't make sense, And with only about 400hp to work with im not sure which way to go.... 5.13 gear, trans brake, 26 inch tire...etc . caltracks and stock leaves right now. I cant afford to build a new trans every year and am worried about parts breakage with a brake. Thinking about 7.0 index as well.....but not sure... thanks in advance
