67 Nova leaf springs for S/A class car
What is the secret for moving the stock leaf springs inboard on this car to put 9" X 30" slicks in the wheel wells and be legal for stock automatic? Can springs be purchased? how much will I have to move the spring pads inboard? are there special bushings?

Can't move the springs per the rules...it's a balancing act at best. The grinder will be your friend. And the almighty big hammer!! My Nova, along with all the FINISHED cars I've looked at, have 1/2" or less between the tire and the spring (at the front) and less than that where the tire meets the outer wheelwell lip (at the top). Email me if you want....kickinwing283@netzero.com

I have a 66 nova I recently gave the cal-trac split mono treatment, and I can /did squeeze a 30x9 tire under it. Its a tight fit but they fit. I had to strech the wheel well a bit in the front and grind the quarter edge but they fit.

It is a squeeze to get a 9 x 30 in 66 Nova, but it can be done. Like Paul said, get out the grinder! My leaf springs have been hand massaged with a grinder more than once (front and back of the spring) and we are only running a 15 x 8 rim on a 9 x 29.5. A radial with a straight up and down sidewall will be a much easier fit.
Good luck Joe Schaechter
