Truck GPS Recommendations
Good Morning Racers,
Looking for some suggestions from Racers who have used Truck GPS in their tow rigs. Many of us have big rigs and using my Iphone has taken me through enough twists, turns, and subdivisions that I think it is time I step up to something more purpose built. Getting there is a big part of the trip.....especially if you are going long haul or to new locations. Thanks! |

Re: Truck GPS Recommendations
I have a Garmin Dezl OTR710. it takes your length and weight and plans the route. it is 90% good. I still research the route it wants to use. Sometimes with my rig it just doesnt go where it thinks we can turn. LOL

Re: Truck GPS Recommendations
Mark,
I use a Garmin truck specific unit too. I concur with Lenny about the 90%. Having the correct street address for race track is best. Just typing in the name of track will not get you to the racer's gate 100%. One track we now go to regularly had us in a field behind the track, the 1st time we programmed the GPS. Our rig is 80' long so we are about 5'-10' longer than a std OTR tractor/trailer, no short cuts possible. Bill Kraft Former SS/AH Traitor, now in COPO camp |

Re: Truck GPS Recommendations
Thanks Gentlemen!
I agree on the turning lol This is good conversation as I?m sure most of us have found ourselves in a difficult position with the miles we run. I have a pretty good comfort zone for Division 1 tracks (and the routes in and out) but as I explore further it?s probably good to have a solid purpose intended GPS |
