Do any of you know how to tell the difference in 82-87 Camaro Front suspensions, there seems to be a smaller lite weight version and a more heavy duty version, and it makes a difference on Hedder clearance? Thanks for any help!

Can any of you guys point me in the right direction for building up a stocker 82-92 Camaro suspension (from the rear to the front)? Looking to start upgrading an 84 camaro suspension in the next couple of months
Example what Rear, LCA's, Torque Arm, SFC's, Panhard Bar, Shocks/Springs etc. What items are you removing for weight loss? Thanks

Most all my stuff is S&W and they are now building it out of Chromoly, to save in weight. My rear end is a complete Strange with Alum spool, and i believe Mark Williams has the same deal and i have Mark Williams Disc Brakes on all 4 corners. Maybe this is some help!

Hey Woodrow,
Remember the thread a couple weeks ago about the Checker Auto Co. ? ( Previously the Checker Cab co. ) Well, some might not love hearing this, what with ego's and all. lol But the Checker Auto Co. manufactored almost all of the Camero and Firebird subframes and suspension for GM from the 80's to probably this day. I did some work with the factory just before they quite building Checker cars, they had a front end problem. I just picked up the phone and called the factory from the shop I was working in. They were really nice. They had a front end problem and we helped work it out. Thats where I got to know some of the old Checker guys, and the history of the car. They're based in Michigan, shouldn't be hard to find a phone #. I bet you could call them and they would tell you everything you wanted to know. That way you have it right from the horses mouth. So...YES, you guys are racing CHECKER CAB's [:-laughing-:] Sorry woody ![]() |

Yea Danny, kinda makes ya want to.....unfurl the flag....don't it. lol
Woody, the're in Kalamazoo MI. I remembered. ![]() But have changed names thru the years. Checker Motor Co. was one of the last ones I know of. C C industries too. They made tons of GM body parts too. So under your Firebird insignia, you better get a little sticker that say.....Division of Checker Cab Co.....lol OK. I'll quit ![]() |
