Default Starting line gear ratio vs acceleration

I was wondering about the effect of low gear ratios 2.75 2.82 autos and 3.19 3.29 stick cars have on acceleration.

Default Re: Starting line gear ratio vs acceleration

Jerry my experience has always been, If it will hook,
the taller the first gear the quicker the car will 60?, but you may experience lag upon shifting to next gear. Most 3 speeds have 2d gears ratio in the 1.60 range, give or take a few tenths.
Sure they are exceptions.
