Default How did a milidon 30401 pan become a stock replacement?

Bigger, Deeper, and oil further from the crank. Can the person approving this stuff read a ruler, scales or digital calipers. Reading the vernier on a micrometer maybe out of the question. When was the last time the NHRA tools got checked against a National Standard? How many SBC oil pans are painted black?

Larry, not a good idea to POKE the Bear. When you find out the answer to your question, please find out how the 66 Chevy novas got a deep sump pan also ….

Cost me an engine, because we didn't check it out. Turns out to be a much larger pan than 5 quarts. And it's in the approved parts list

That thing is so deep you will have to put 12 quarts or more in it to slow your ol 350 down. LOL

The COPO, Drag Pack, and the factory Cobra Jet are all built from catalogs at custom shops. I do not have a problem with that
It is the stuff that is a direct replacement that is way wrong. The comparison is very similar to Larry Hodge and myself. We are both old racers but that is where the similarities end, but we have the same initials. He is regular size and I am slightly bigger by at least three quarts. One Larry is not a direct replacement for the other one.

During having a piston approved I had to supply an OEM piston and my preposed accepted replacement all on my dime. Weight, ring lands placements, compression height, valve notch cc, wrist pin size, and appearance of the top of the piston. To do all of that it took NHRA some time and skill.

My next question is what happened?

Did the acceptance process turn into an income steam for NHRA or did they just lost sight of fairness to the racers.
