With the poor quality accelerator pumps currently found in carb kits, will a leather pump hold up with racing gas…renegade 112? 4gc on a super stocker. Thanks.

The trick used to be to soak your leather pump cups in brake fluid to keep them soft, or to soften them up. I use viton pump cups NAPA number 2-4112 in all my carbs .Cost about $7.50 each.

Does the 4 GC use the same size pump as the Rochester 2 Barrel or is it the Dia. of the Q-Jet pump? Its been years since I've been inside one of those carbs. Have a Good Day. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA Last edited by Henrys Toy; 03-10-2024 at 09:10 AM. |

All racing fuels contain Triethylamine.
They will kill the leather and even the Viton cups that usually come in the carb kits sold at auto parts stores. I recommend the use of cups sold by companies such as Quadarjet Power, Quadrajet Parts, and others. They sell cups that are resistant to the new generation of fuels and are made from either Butyl, EPDM, Neoprene, or Hypalon rubber. |

Henry, the 4gc has a couple different sizes. The one I’m running (1966, 283/233hp) is 21/32” cup and the “long stem” pump. I’m not sure about the 2 barrel carb.
