Moser and Comp were the also first checks to arrive from my Seattle divisional win in August. Good job to both of them. It's why I support their products. Jegs arrived last week.

Thank you all for the kind words and acknowledgements of the contingency payments and them being timely. For myself personally, I take a lot of pride in trying to be the first to get the racers paid. I typically receive the claims on Friday. I match the claims up to the results (DRC & NHRA) and verify decals for those I am unfamiliar with through autoimagery, divisional photos and class racer live posts. I check W-9 status of the payee and request a W-9 from those I don't have and submit my list to be paid by Monday night or Tuesday morning. I typically have a check on my desk to mail out on that Friday. I try to audit the checks and get them in the mail bin before the mailman arrives so the checks are out a week from me receiving the claim although sometimes they get out the door on Monday.
I realize that all of the companies involved in the contingency program do not have the resources to have someone in place to handle this process. Some simply receive the list and accounting pays the claim on a set schedule. Some are smaller companies that are happy to be involved, but have limited personnel and struggle with the paperwork, but are doing their best to be involved and support the racer. My favorite time at the track is spent in the pits or in the lanes talking to racers. I'm not necessarily a technical guy, but 95% of my time spent talking to racers and thanking them for their support. The best conversations always seem to involve stories that go way back and how long they have been dealing with a certain co-worker of mine and how much they have helped their program. I admit that I take some self satisfaction when someone mentions that ours is the first check they receive. I work hard at it. At the same time, it frustrates me when I hear that claims do not get paid. If a company commits to the program and the racer has upheld their end of the agreement (product, decal and result), they should be held to pay, period. It gives the program a bad reputation. I apologize as this was longer than I set out to type, but I typically do that which is why I rarely post. I want to thank all of you for your support. I consider you all friends and I appreciate the time you offer when we cross paths at the track. Billy Carroll Contingency Coordinator COMP Cams Edelbrock FAST TCI Lunati |
