Just how bad is the 350 in that car. I see it has been hit fairly hard but I also dont see many running that combo. Is it dead?

Yes it has been spammed pretty hard over the years and is not an interchangeable year to year 73-74 . Different camshafts 73 uses a .390/.410, 74 uses a .401/.401 and different bumper systems that are not interchangeable. Shock absorber bumpers on a 1974 and regular steel bumper brackets on a 1973

There is a black one, claims to be a 74 but might be a 73. The 73 combo is 350/175/283 car should weigh about 3420 with driver. I got a spare motor for that setup that's also good for a -.50
