With the EFI and Carb class combined in 08, heres a thought. Most if not all EFI engines were dynoed by the factory and ued SAE J 1349 correction factor which is 29.234 baro and 77 Deg carb air. Most Carb engines used SAE J607 which is 29.92 baro and 92 deg carb air. So what is means is that a carb engine would be about 5% lower with the J 1349 so which horspower will be used. This looks like to me the carb HP need to be reduced by about 5 %..

Dont hold your breath you will turn blue before you get NHRA to go with that. Its going to take a year of carb cars getting their butts kicked before they even look at it. By then NHRA will have enough HP reduction letters to act. Any way, who knows what will really happen when they run up against each other, going to be alot of good old fashion drag racing before anything changes.

The Old powerglide cars get to run a 3 speed in "08". this should help them out against the FI cars.
