Question Corvette proportioning valve

I am replacing this valve on my 70 Corvette. It has an electrical connection on it. Can someone tell me what purpose it serves and where the wire leads. Thanks, Lee

That one wire would be the low brake light.

Thanks L79 and Jeff for the info. I think the valve is stuck as I can't bleed the rear brakes. I tapped on it while putting pressure on it, but to no avail. I guess a new valve is in my future, eh? Thanks again. Lee B.

Some of them have a small (1/8in.) plunger that pops out that needs to be pushed in to reset.

Frequently, to re-set that valve once it goes off center, (that is how the indicator works) you MUST have that wire hooked up, ignition on, then bleed off the pressure from the side that has pressure, to re-center the valve.....why it only will re-set with power applied I'm not sure, not all of them require it, but it might.....
Anyway, you always have to work the system front/rear/front/rear to keep the valve centered.

The purpose of it is to cut off fluid flow to the side that lost pressure, like if a hose or tube burst.....

The valve is actually un-needed to proper brake operation, especially on a 50/50 brake system like the Corvette......easier to plumb around it if this isn't a restoration street car.
