10.90, 121 MPH @ 4003 pounds=553 crankshaft HP, so your looking @ 560-580 corrected STP crankshaft HP should be close. Another example: 402 350 HP, we know these make around 510 corrected STP HP with conservative heads, 510 divided by 412 = 1.23, 1.23 X 470 = 581 HP, not so sure this is a great example, but something else to consider. Another example: 260 CFM @ 28 inches X 2.2 = 572 realistic HP potential. Last edited by HP HUNTER; 04-08-2017 at 09:49 PM. |

Jim, I had a 454 -365 by Parsons and Meyers about 12 years ago that made 480 on their dyno. The person I bought it from said when he bought the engine that for an additional $3500 the power would have been in the 515 range.

If you still have to use the stock intake, thats a big bump to get to work.

A certain hp to move a certain weight at 121 mph, pretty easy to figure out, law of physics 101. IMO

"very good ones make 600 range " I would open this question up to the whole forum, if you have a A/SA 1969 Nova with a 375 HP 396 stick and it runs 135 MPH @ 3470 in a 29.00 baro, How much HP does this take? With 245 CFM @ 28 inches it would have to make in the 530s for HP corrected STP. My Buick flowed 213 CFM @ peak lift and made 474 HP, theres no way that BBC intake manifold is worse than the Buicks. The 455 is way better than the 365/454 intake. |
