I absolutely HATE the new permatex junk. is there any alternative? seems loctite has bought up everybody. still there must be some other brand.

Don't know what you're "glueing". I've had success with Ultra gray or black. But generally I let gaskets do their job and use sealer in places like the ends of the intake on a SBC.

I've had good success with Valco Products. I've used their "Tube-Grip" for over 20 years and it sure makes things easier!

+1 on Valco. Their Aluminized silicone sealer is a great product.
The last Permatex black silicone I used was j-u-n-k. ![]()

Locktite 5900. You'll not ever use anything else after you try this. It even sticks thru oil. Yes, I seriously sticks and seals even if there is oil on the surfaces.
