Default wcfb info

Moving stuff in shop and came across one of dad's old wcfb carbs. I have been told it is a "service carb" for the 57 wcfb. It has one of the correct 57's air horns. As I understand, it was a replacement carb for 57 carb and was available up to around 1965.

I'm not familiar with the term "service carb". Any additional info about wcfb "service carbs" or contact person would be appreciated.

Generally, "Service Carbs" were essentially homologated versions of the variety of carbs (within a specific model family, like WCFB or 4GC), designed to service a variety of vehicle models and engines (which obviously originally came equipped with that carb model). They reduced the number of Part Numbers GM had to stock and as a result, drove inventory cost down. Think of them as an "averaged" version of the many configurations that were originally available.

I have a sheet that shows year and carb #.
Year 1957
carb#2655s
main body 0-108 or 0-1108
air horn#6-1271 (6-1299 poss.)
throttle body#1-1386 This is a standard single 4 barrel.

The number for the 2x4 barrel main body is 0-049 and if you have that i could use one as the one i have is not much good by itself. For stock or s/s all nhra cares about is the size-they do not care about the numbers.
