Does anyone know of a source for bearings or spacers that will accommodate 409 main journal diameter in a Big Block Chevrolet? Thank you...Maurice.

Most who do this have a set of steel spacers made for the uppers, and steel caps made for the lowers. The uppers are installed with counter sunk screws. Once all of that is done, the block is align honed. Then you don't have any problems.

One other option is Dart. You might be able to buy a Dart block with 409 mains. I have not done that, or tried. I have bought a Dart 396 block with a 54MM cam tunnel and with 0.904" lifter bores. The optional cam tunnel and lifter bores are around $250 or so, give or take. The wait on a Dart block can be up to 6-8 weeks.
I'm pretty sure a company such as Pro-Gram will probably make a set of caps, but I'm not sure who can or will make the upper spacers.

Looking back on my notes from about 10-12 years ago ---we ran a B/EA in Comp Eliminator with a small BBC engine bout 347 inches at the time--- we were using 348/409 cranks in 396/427 blocks to get that size engine---possible sources or parts may be sourced from the following places--- do not know if they re still around but its worth a try--this is from notes again you'll hafta do the research to see if it will apply---good luck FED387
