Default SBC manifolds, In & Ex

Doing a local class of Dirt car that has to run a stock (no ram horn) ex manifold and a stock intake w a 2bbl carb.
Since I have "0" experience with these engines and I'm gathering parts I need to know what are the best Ex and what is the best intake. (no marine or vortec) Customer came wagg'in in a 057 non egr intake. Use it???
Yes, I did a search and didn't come up with anything concrete.
OK Guys give me your best. Do a PM or E-mail if you are not interested in posting your secret wepon. :~)
Thanks,
Adger

Adger, I don't think the numbers matter much if you get them from Brzezinski..

Might as well .The other guys will.

Adger years ago on my dirt tracking days we did the Brzezinski deal and it worked great.

We got pulled down several times and they never found what we were doing.

Well, the rules spell out no Brzezinski. so my customer and I are not going there. We know the casting numbers don't matter, but someone out there knows what numbers are better than others. My customer is always looked at because he has always understood how to use the power he has and make the car handle. We have been doing this for a long time as engine builder/customer. We have won track championships without cheating, but we do bend rules. This 4412 carb Deal is something new for us & most of the other guys. The car will weigh around 3200 lbs. I've already put atogether a mule and had it on the dyno. It came in a little low (RPM) on power, but had a great power curve. It looks like I had a little too much intake duration and the ex flow was not too good. He has small log manifolds.(only legal ex manifold) I also had a trick valve angle on the ex that might not be working on overlap. When I do the "Good engine" we wanted to try other parts. These are just what we had in the used parts bin, except the cam. We have a 14" vac @ 1200 and a .447 lift rule Hyd cam. cast flat tops and 4 equal valve reliefs. Stock 1.5 ratio rockers. Stock pushrods (5/16) and any open chamber heads. No porting on heads or intake or ex. Not sure if the late mod alum manifolds are legal. it's not in print if they are. Well, as usual any help or constructive comments will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adg

Man they are strict with the lift rule, we ran the Isky 305 hydraulic cam in our stocker with 1.5 rockers.

Adger we also found a high rise intake (GM part number) from 1973 I think it was (remember we were doing this back in the late 80's) huge pickup for us, and we had to run a quadrjet carb.

How large of air filter will be be running?

Pretty strict rules but sounds like fun though.

They are calling it a "Factory Stock" class and the lift and Vac requirements are what I think is going to be the toughest. The carb might be the next plug in the pipe. I don't think anyone is going to walk away with the class. If they do I bet they are cheating in som area. It has a claimer/swap rule, too.
Here are the engine rules as copied from their website:
ENGINE: Must be stock for the make and model except no 400’s or larger small or big blocks. All engine components including water pumps, distributor, etc., must be strictly stock. Cast piston only, Chevy must use 4 equal valve relief pistons. Aftermarket mini starter, pulleys, harmonic balancer and oil pans okay. Aftermarket power-steering pumps okay. Metric cars may run a 350. NO stroking or de-stroking. Engine must be in stock location. Solid motor and transmission mounts okay. Maximum cranking compression 175 lbs.(ignition off, engine turned over 5 times).
CAMSHAFT, VALVETRAIN, AND CYLINDER HEADS: Hydraulic cam and lifters only. .447 maximum lift. Must maintain 14” of vacuum at 1200 rpm. 1.94 maximum intake valve diameter, 1.50 maximum exhaust valve diameter on Chevrolet engines. Stock size valve springs and stock length pushrods only. Stamped steel 1.5 rockers on Chevy , 1.6 on Ford and Chrysler,
NO roller tips. Open chambered heads only, must be unaltered, O.E.M. NO porting, polishing, or gasket matching allowed. Screw in studs and guide plates ok. 305 engines may use 305 heads(no vortec).
CARBURATION AND FUEL SYSTEM: Holley 4412 2-barrel only. Must be unaltered. Choke plate may be removed. 4412 must be cast into body of carb. Maximum spacer and adapter 1” combined total. Fuel pump must be in stock location for make, NO electric pumps or fuel injection even if factory equipped.
EXHAUST: Stock cast iron exhaust manifolds only. NO Chevy center dump, Corvette, marine, or tubular steel type manifolds.
INTAKE MANIFOLD: Stock unaltered aluminum or cast iron intake only. NO aftermarket or stock high performance or high rise. NO bowties. NO porting, polishing, or gasket matching.
I see a couple of holes, but pretty tight. A lot of No's in there.. HA!
Here are the Claim rules:
CLAIM PROCEDURE RULES:
ENGINE CLAIMING RULES: Any driver in the same race on the lead lap may claim one of the top three finishers immediately after the “A” feature in the tech area.
(A) $500.00 and swap claim on engines.
(B) Claim does not include - Flywheel, clutch/assembly, bell housing, breathers, carburetor, starter, motor mounts, oil/temp sending units, water pump, fan, pulleys, dip stick, distributor, wires, water outlet/restrictor, fuel pump, fuel pump plate/rod.
(C) Driver may NOT claim another driver finishing in a position behind them and may not claim the same driver more than once per calendar year.
CARBURETOR / DISTRIBUTOR / SHOCK CLAIM RULES:
The official claiming area is in the tech area, or wherever track designates. Claim must be made immediately after the “A” feature race finishes (checkered flag). Only the driver may make the claim. Driver must have money. The claiming driver must be on the same lap as the driver being claimed. Only the top three cars may be claimed by another driver. A driver can claim another
driver’s multiple claims on the same carburetor, distributor, or shock, a draw will be held with claiming drivers to determine who gets claim. Refusal to sell will forfeit all cash, trophies, and points for the night. If claim is refused, claim is NOT held against driver who made claim.
Carburetor claim $200.00 and swap, Shock or Spring claim $20.00 each and swap, Distributor claim $100.00 and swap.
