I was wondering what Modifications people were doing to a Big Block Mopar to get the oil to return to the pan faster. Pics would be appreciated. thanks Dan

I have never had a problem except with Stage 6 Heads not draining.

Is it the Cylinder Head area or Lifter Galley area that is collecting Oil?

they are Indy 440-1 heads. I don't know if it's staying in the heads or lifter. i seem to be losing pressure at the end of the track. it's got a Charlies pan with trap doors and swinging pick up and it has the lifter bores bushed with .030 holes for push rod oiling. so I'm limiting the amount of oil to the rocker gear. I'm installing a moroso accumulator to band-aid the problem. It's a stick car, with a big stroke, so it's really throwing oil around. i have this feeling that it is emptying the pan even with 9 quarts of oil. i've tried any where from 6-10 quarts.

Sounds like to much oil pressure, put in a softer spring in the pump.

I have run the Indy heads on 1/2 Stroker 440 with just a Milodon pan and pump
with only eight quarts. I run Mobil on 10-30 synthetic with Zero problems.

I had issues with Oil foaming and nearly emptying the pan only when I ran a 15 - 50 Conventional Non syn. oil early on with the engine. I do not know if it was
the higher oil pressure or the foaming slowing the return or possibly
both working together that was the problem.

I since have broken the engine in and change oils before making a hard pass
on the bracket cars.

Hope this Helps!

I started to think about when did i start having this problem. I think it is from the Main stud girdle that i put on it. not enough room for the oil to drain back at a fast enough rate. it was probably acting like a second windage tray. now i purchased an aftermarket mega block. so bye, bye stud girdle. What oil pressure would you recommend? i have an adjustable milidon spring set up in the pump. i usually try to limit to 80psi going down the track.

Milodon system run on Steins cars back in the day, never went over 60 # or it would empty the pan.
