Need some help from my Arizona friends..... My daughter & some friends are driving out from KC to Glendale for the Tostitos Bowl game (she rides on K-States Equestrian team).
I've driven the route many times and know roads can get treacherous up around Flagstaff this time of year. I was looking at Google maps and they are showing a routes from Holbrook through Payson and then down through Scottsdale. Never made that drive and just looking for input from my friends that live out there..... anyone? Unk

Bob.....I own a home in Heber, AZ which is on that Holbrook to Payson route....It saves 35 miles that way, but in the winter I would stick to interstate 40 and 17 south....the road is much better patrolled and maintained

Bob, That's a long way around from Rt 87 (Bee Line Highway) over to 101 @Glendale Ave on the West Side.
It's only about 15 miles from I-17 and the 101 on the North side to Glendale Ave, and fairly light traffic most of the time.

Neil & Mak are right...I-40 West to I-17 South, I-17 South to Loop 101, Loop 101 (L101) East and around 83rd Avenue it curves South...follow south on L101 to Glendale exit, East a few 100 yards. Can't miss it, looks like a giant aluminum UFO.
FYI - Sometimes you need snow chains in the Flagstaff area and south on I-17. Lots of idiots that aren't use to driving on snow cause lots of problems! Slow and steady....

Bob, I drove the Holbrook/Payson route at Thanksgiving. It is a good hwy with several miles of 4 lane when you get closer to Phoenix.
There was very little snow then. But, that could be a different story now. #5457 Curt Rees
