Default window net update

Effective today 3-5-2012......if your car is 7.50 or slower.....you don't have to have your window net recerted every two years as previously stated.....the latest rule update fixed that oversite .....so the guys that bought a new one....sorry....but at least you won't have to buy another in 2 years.....

Rock Haas.....

For full-bodied cars running 7.50 (*4.50) to 9.99 (*6.39) or if vehicle runs 135 mph or faster a ribbon-type or SFI 27.1 mesh-type window net is mandatory unless otherwise specified by class requirements.

SFI 27.1 window net, when required, must be updated at two-year intervals from the date of manufacture.

So I'm still a little confused I guess...This says that for 7.49 to 9.99, I have to have a window net, a ribbon type OR a SFI 27.1 mesh-type net...and if a SFI 27.1 net is required, it must be certed every 2 years...

What am I missing ???? Is it saying that the ribbon type doesnt have to be SFI 27. and the mesh type does ?

Dazed and confused by the constant bombardment of NHRA rules makers...

Dave,
Looks to me that they snuck in a revision after everyone (including myself) scrambled to meet the new rule and purchased a new net and set up. Not that cheap or simple in some cases. My original 27.1 was custom made to fit my car. So now I modifed all the brackets which took me hours to do so I can just replace a standard off the shelf item every two years. All for not!!! Thanks again NHRA!!!!
I would love to sit in the board room one time and listen to how these decions are made. If I am not mistaken the same deal went down years ago with the diapers.

I certainly don;t want to hijack Rock's thread here but there is still no movement on the secondary brake system rule. We're still talking though and trying to have it corrected.

Talking Re: window net update

Nice that my window net was backordered from Summit, I was able to cancel.

Dave...The Mesh type always had to be recerted every two years...the Ribbon type 27.1 is good indefinitely....they just didn't enforce the rule on the mesh....

...I'm still trying to get some movement on the secondary braking system...

My silver tongue is tarnished on that one.... .... I will continue to try though....

Rock
