Default 2002 Dodge Ram Dash

New dash from Dodge for a 2002 Ram 1 ton is $432 to $549. Is anyone aware of a less expensive option to replace this cracking dash? I've heard of a dash pad you glue to the existing dash, but this one has a large hole already (10" x 20" or larger).

Thank you,

It's a cheaper but very time consuming option, but if you find one at a junk yard/you-pull-it, you can learn how it comes apart on the doner truck before you do yours.

As for a dash pad, it may be possible to fill any "holes" in the dash with some type of foam, (expanding?) before covering it

Where is it cracking?? I have a 2002 and the part of the dash by the windshield has cracks, but the rest if crack free.I think the cracked part of mine is separate from the dash pad area itself.

FWIW..my neighbors 99 Dodge dash cracked all over and he got a dash pad carpet deal from Pep Boys and it worked great.

Chris I have the same problem with my 2002. It has holes in it!!! Why dodge didn't recall these is beyond me. There are actually 3 pieces. One piece along the windshield, one below that and the main dash cover. I have not found a CHEAP replacement. Do a google search on 2002 ram dash as you probably have. I've got to fix mine as I'm trading it in next year. Let me know if you come up with something.

Warning!

The dash on my 1999 Dodge cracked so bad that the dash caused a short in the dash that was so bad the truck had to be totaled. Don't worry about hiding the crack, fix it even if you have to buy a new one.

My, new to me, 2003 is already cracking and if I can't stop it I will replace it.

Dodge has known about this problem since 1999 and has yet to any action to solve the problem.

And don't use armorall. It causes cracks because it seals the vinyl and dries it out.

One of those silver coated windshield sun deflectors goes a long way blocking the damage done by the sun on dashboards.I have one in all my vehicles. And it keeps the interior much cooler in the summer.
The dash pad in my '99 Dakota looks as good now as when I bought it.And I've never used that greasy kid stuff on it.
