2011 Nitro Jam Schedule
January 28-29 (Fri-Sat) Palm Beach International Raceway West Palm Beach, FL February 19-20 (Sat-Sun) State Capital Raceway Baton Rouge, LA March 25-26 (Fri-Sat) Southwestern International Raceway Tucson, AZ April 1-2 (Fri-Sat) San Antonio Raceway San Antonio, TX May 20-21 (Fri-Sat) Pittsburgh Raceway Park Pittsburgh, PA June 17-18 (Fri-Sat) Rocky Mountain Raceways Salt Lake City, UT June 24-26 (Fri-Sat-Sun) Castrol Raceway Edmonton, Alberta July 16-17 (Sat-Sun) Grand Bend Motorplex Grand Bend, Ontario August 12-13 (Fri-Sat) U.S. 131 Motorsports Park Martin, MI Kind of confused on this schedule. First off SIR is still NHRA as far as I knew and has a Division 7 Race scheduled for October. I don't see NHRA allowing SIR to run both sanctions. I also thought Pittsburgh is a 1/4 mile long track but, they only run 1/8 mile due to the very short shutdown area and now they are going to have T/F and Funny Cars there....I don't know maybe they improved the shutdown area in the off-season. From the website it looks like they are making improvements all over the track. It also looks like VMP and MIR will host big Sportsman Only National Events to celebrate IHRA's 40th year. MIR will be the weekend of July 8th - 10th and VMP's date has not been announced. So that may nip the rumor that VMP was going to NHRA and hosting a D-1 or D-2 race this year but, who knows. "2011 will mark 40 years of sportsman racing for the International Hot Rod Association. To celebrate sportsman racing, IHRA is planning a pair of 40th Anniversary “Sportsman Spectacular” events highlighting 40 years of the best sportsman racing in the country. Maryland International Raceway will hold down one of those dates the weekend of July 8-10. At press time, an end of the season date for Virginia Motorsports Park to host the Sportsman Spectacular, the Tournament of Champions and Summit SuperSeries World Championships is still being finalized. Both Maryland International Raceway and Virginia Motorsports Park will feature special sportsman only events that will include a full weekend of racing, big money payouts and national event contingency. Instead of featuring the usual Nitro Jam professional classes, these sportsman only events will give racers a unique stage all their own capped off with the Tournament of Champions and Summit SuperSeries at VMP to wrap up the season. In addition to sportsman being the feature attraction, the special Sportsman Spectacular events will also feature record payouts and other perks to help celebrate the IHRA’s 40th anniversary. " |

Charlie I've heard the same thing but, nothing is in print yet. Dad will run E-Town, Atco, Cecil and Maple and I'll run all the MASGA stuff for 2011 and some bracket races at Atco. Epping and VMP are just a little too far to drive, the 4 hour drive to Numidia is about all I can take...haha. One of these years we'll get you to a MASGA race Charlie!
