Thumbs up Front Suspension Rebuild Questions

I am rebuilding the fornt end on my 64 Plymouth Savoy which I an setting up to run in stock eliminator. Does anyone have any suggestions on which bushings I should use (especially in the upper control arms)as well as torsion bars (the .81's?) plus any other items that need speacial attention besides just a normal rebuild. I was thinking of utilising the new fabricated upper control arms since they have a little more adjustability in them over the stock units.Any and all suggestions and opinions would be very much appreaciated.

You cannot run fabricated front control arms, unless there's been a recent rule change I missed.

I didn't know that. Thanks Alan. I do believe I can get a set of repo's as mine are pretty pitted and probably weak.

I have a '64 Savoy with a basically stock suspension in the front. I use the 6cyl torsion bars (mine were used bars, a little less stiff). Use a stock rebuild kit with stock type rubber parts in the rebuild and delete the sway bar, front shocks are important (talk to a dealer for his recommendations) and change over to disc brakes.

Alan's right, you cannot modify the A arm's but you can remove the bumper to allow more lift.

There's lots of guys in here that can help you with serious front end tricks.

Front end alignment is critical and Mopar has a performance manual that covers the way it should be done or ask one of the Mopar racers for particulars.

Good luck,

JimR

Moog makes offset upper control arm bushings which will give more caster if desired. I'm planning on using them in my '69 Dart stocker.
