Looking to buy a new timing light have had the same one for 20 years. What are the good quality brands out there and are the self powered ones good. Just starting my research. Thats for the help in advance.

I like my Flaming River light..... Works great (no interference) with MSD ignitions...

Plain old Craftsman w/o advance dial or MSD are hard to beat on MSD ignition.I don't know if they still are but MSD tech told me their's and Craftsman light were made by same people said only difference was if you wanted to pay Sears price or MSD price,which I don't think there is much price difference though. Had self powered MSD light it wasn't as tough as the chrome craftsman/MSD light.

If you are running msd ignition use actron cp7527..no dial back and and no digital.
