Default 95 Camaro SS 350 LT1 dead

My son in laws 95 SS died today. He found an ignition fuse blown. He replaced it and it blew again. Replaced it with a 30 and got it running only to blow again when the rpm's came up. Anyone got any thoughts I can try tomorrow after I tow it home?
Thanks

Yes, as WJ said the optisparks are well known to give trouble. A common problem is a water pump going out, which allows water to leak on the optispark. With an ignition problem I would say either the module on the coil or optispark. They are quite pricey if you get a GM optispark from a dealer. I would try Jegs or Ebay they both carry some good quality optisparks.

I have had 3 different LT1 street cars, and as posted above, had the Opti problems. However, I have never blown a fuse from it. I would ask Ed Wright about it (www.fastchip.com) - he has probably seen what you are running into before.

WJ
Son in law works too many hours to work on it during the week. My son went over and did some testing and thinks its the secondary side of the coil. Primary side read fine but secondary was way off. I picked up one yesterday and they will try that today. If that doesn't do it I guess its opti time. I priced them and was asked a strange question. Does it have an oil cooler? Around $100 more if it does. Guess it is shaped different somehow, I've never really looked close under the hood even though my son owned this car first and now my son in law. Will let you know how this turns out.
Thanks
