Hopefully his tuner won't take it upstairs and into the attic again. I did warn Chris about that. I was shocked that our Stanton built engine survived 7200 rpm. I was planning to push it to 8000 rpm, but ran out of camshaft at 7000.

This story just keeps getting more and more complicated and rediculous if you ask me.....Not for nothing but I have to ask.....why would someone go thru all of this to make a race thousands of miles away with a new car?
To satisfy a sponsor?
To prove you can do it?
Is it being filmed by a production company for a reality TV show?
Most people have to work to earn a living......and that allows them to participate in the sport of drag racing. They have to juggle their time and time off.....
Some obviously are better off then others and can participate more and spend more time devoted to the sport.
Very few can race full time and come out ahead......
Even WJ says he won't chase around the counrty on his own dime.

I'm not being negative...I just view things in a logical and practical way.....This saga is not logical or practical.....to me anyway......

If I am Drooze's driver.....I'm reading the fine print in my contract.....and lookin for an out....LOL~
Super Sunday........beer...football....food.....racing can wait....!!!

Yes Mack Reeves is one H*** of a fine person to lend DROOZIE his engine. Hopefully Droozie can fulfil his mission now. Hats off to Mack...

My Stanton engine will run 8000. Gary Stanton is a great guy and builds a good engine.
Trouble is they ( original production DragPak engines) were all built off the street version that was only designed to turn 7,000, it was after I blew up my first one Chrysler realized the problem.( and sent all dragpak owners a bulletin on the windage tray) Also there was a production design fault with # 5 ,6 rods getting oil at high RPMs.

He's going to need a lot more spare engines turning it 9000.

"To prove you can do it? " Yes, to ourselves AND, Tommorow me or may pop not be able to so TODAY is the time. Nooone is promised tommorow. I will die having no regrets of wishing I had TRIED to do things and wonder how they MIGHT have turned out.

"Most people have to work to earn a living" I dont. Im not rich but house is paid for no outstanding debts, living off my savings, can for another few years. Then Ill decide what to do, Im kinda on "hiatus" Thinking of going to law school.....seriously......

"To satisfy a sponsor?" If it was painful no , never, I would also never allow myself to be put in that position by anyone under any circumstance. A position where I was obligated financially or morally , I have kids and parents that the extent of who I would allow me to put me in that position.

"Is it being filmed by a production company for a reality TV show?"
Nope they took a poll and Im too ugly, I would scare children.

"Most people have to work to earn a living......and that allows them to participate in the sport of drag racing. They have to juggle their time and time off....." Sounds a little twinge of jealousy , cant change that your life is yours and mine is mine. I have other commitments this year, but I will MAKE time for the racing.

"Very few can race full time and come out ahead......" Agreed, this is worse than owning a boat........It would have been cheaper for the old man to throw money off a tall building, half way through Im sure common sense would have set in and he would have stopped. But with this once youre commited what are the options ?

"If I am Drooze's driver.....I'm reading the fine print in my contract.....and lookin for an out" Good thing youre not driving for us, I guess that speaks to his charachter, he commited and is following through, hes aware of the situation and he had contacted us about him driving for us, we did not seek him out directly, he knew we needed a driver and stepped up.

"This story just keeps getting more and more complicated and rediculous if you ask me"

Thats the funniest thing in the post.....Its apparent you dont know me and I dont know you, if you did know me , you would know by FAR this is pretty mild and normal in my world of strangness....I am like a cosmic epicenter for bad / strange luck so I have had to learn to land on my feet......

Not even the tip of the iceberg in terms of complicated or ridiculous.

Cheers

Chris

I want to be able to spin it to 9k with no fear of top end issues. Bottom end I havent handled yet....as is apparent, but my hands never went into the bottom end. Sooooooo who knows what happened.

From what I have seen in the top end we have accomplished that however and am thrilled at that.

As far as normally spinning it that fast , no, but I want it to be capable.

Like my bonny friend was saying yesterday when I was just amazed at their vid of a run in AA (500 ci and bigger) and they were only 505, twin fans, and running it mashed out to 9500 for 8-10 or so miles ? I was stunned at the motor, I said how do you build a motor to do that, over 250 miles long run more than half over 200 ? He said "Its easy, you build a motor for 2000 hp and run it at 800....."

Building a motor to be capable is nice, and when I want to Ill know it has it. If I end up in a heads up........limiter goes up. I wouldnt do that if it were "unknown"

And Irv, with the bottom ends in these that might be the weak link. The heads are capable with the right shafts and springs/retainers. My stuff is all ligther than the stock dp stuff (less having to replace the titanium retainers)

Thanks Jerry, for helping thank Mack, my phone has rung all day with people telling me to pass on my best to Mack for helping us.

A LOT of people have helped us make this happen, but Mack contribution by far is the "lifesaver"

Just talked to him and told him I had to let him go, I was getting tears in my eyes and I dont think a grown man should cry over and engine, and I wasnt I almost did from his genuine nature, and true generosity. THATS the kind of guy he is.
