Default Sox & Martin Duster Homecoming

"Hemi Fred" from New Jersey is match racing an Original Ronnie Sox, Sox & Martin Duster against an Orignal Bill Jenkins Monza tonight at Zmax Dragway. The plan now is to go back to the beginning for this Duster and return to Piedmont Dragway on Sunday. Fred has never had the opportunity to run this car down the track where Ronnie made many passes. This is test-n-tune at Piedmont so let's go have some fun.

Standing beside the track or in the stands and remember the times you saw this car go down the track at Piedmont.

Darn, I just left NC yesterday and could have "extended " my business trip and watched this..... I used to live only 6 or 8 miles from the Piedmont strip....

Mack:

I heard from Fred at lunch time and Dave Christie, mechanic on that car will be at the race tonight at Zmax to help crew chief for the match race. Possibly be at Piedmont on Sunday.

WOW! This is a MoPar guys dream come true! I remember talking to Jake King, Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin for 45 minutes and then watching them match race Da Grump, Dyno Don and Dick Landy.......... back when I wore a younger man's clothes. Jim

But gone is the high winding 396 Hemi and the 4 speed, replaced by an aluminum Indy motor and a glide. And from the picture I saw of the Jenkins Monza, it's nothing like it should be either.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

If you want to create some excitement, prepare the cars as they REALLY were, like the McCandless Demon, now there's a 70's pro stock done right.

Now I'm really piss.. off!!!! I fondly remember my last visit with Ronnie Sox at the Mopar race in Bristol Tenn. It was back in 2002 or 2003 can't remember. But anyway Ronnie was trying to get over his cancer and still match racing with Bob Reed. It looked like it to me that it was all he could do to just be there.... But he still beat Bob that day.... Had a great conversation with him. He had seen my Duster leave the line and he said it reminded him of how his used to leave.... I would love to have seen that car again.... Maybe next time..... Mack
