Hello all I'm new here, I'm trying to find out where the class rules are. I would like to build a class specific car but this is new to me and I'm not sure where to start. I race now at piedmont dragway just test and tune but I'd like to do something a little more competitive. Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I'd suggest an NHRA rule book. If you are looking to race Competition Eliminator you are picking the highest priced racing in the sportsman ranks. You are also joining a group of highly creative people.

What would you recommend as a good entry level class?

Some of the Stock Eliminator cars could be considered as a good choice. Lots of competition ahead of you, if that's what your looking for. Do lots of research, go to a National event and watch. Come on in, the waters fine.

I have a 1988 Mustang GT but it has an aftermarket 9 inch rear not the 8.8 that came with them, it's a registered and insured car. it already has a 6 point cage and a 347 with a Holley 750 and a c4 trans. I don't know if it would fit into any classes though. It's got coil over suspension in the front and a tubular K member too.

From your description, Super Street sounds like the class you should look at. You need 10.50 power in good air and the ability to cut .000 lights on a .500 pro tree. Of course there is more to this. Wish you well.
